Milton-Union Schools

The district is currently working on strategies to remotely continue the school meal program, mental health intervention, and student support through Friday, April 3, 2020. First, we are considering how a five-day week’s worth of breakfast and lunch items can be ordered, packed, and made available for pick-up at the school building by students, parents, caregivers, and families. We hope to identify a specific day of the week and pick-up time, not to mention the recruitment and availability of staff member and community volunteers for preparation and distribution.  The district is extremely grateful for the ongoing dedication and commitment of Rebecca Garrett and all volunteers associated with “Bulldog Bags” who are ready to support this process.

Next, Milton-Union Schools works with several Miami County partners including, but not limited to, Premier Samaritan Behavioral Health and the Miami County Educational Service Center in coordinating mental health screenings, interventions, and supports for students.  At this time, we continue to discuss how these services might be provided remotely to help reduce any anxiety and increase student connectivity with the district during the next several days.

Also, elementary, middle, and high school staff members are working on plans to check-in remotely with students, parents, caregivers, and/or families individually once per week.  The purpose of the check-in is to make person-to-person contacts, answer any questions, address concerns, etc.  If you need additional assistance, our teachers can connect you with one of our counselors, principals, etc.

These are issues of immediate concern, so additional details will be communicated as soon as plans have been finalized.  Thank you for your patience, and please continue to check district and building websites for the most up-to-date information.
