In the short-term future, we expect to have fully implemented changes in our building access and safety protocols regarding visitors during the school day. Please be aware, and be patient with us as we have considered and implemented these changes to strengthen student and staff member safety. (These changes were actually considered and implementation began prior to the events of Friday, March 29, 2019.)
- Building Access: Recent visitors to our buildings would have already noticed. Upon approaching the outside door of each building, visitors will need to request access using the camera/intercom system. An office staff member will be able to see you and have a conversation regarding the purpose of your visit. Our staff member will then permit access to the secure vestibule, and based on the nature of your visit, our staff member will then allow access remotely into the office area.
- Visitor Management System: Depending on the nature of your visit and once you have entered one of our offices, a visitor badge/sticker will be required to enter other areas of our buildings. The visitor management system, SchoolGate Guardian, requires visitors to scan their drivers’ licenses and prints a sticker with specific information (i.e., date, time, name, building, etc.) that must be displayed on your person for the duration of the visit. Of course, visitors will have limited access based on their stated purpose, and everyone must exit through the same building and “check-out” with the same office staff members. We expect this process to be fully implemented prior to the end of April.
As has always been the case, please remember to bring identification. Our intent is to strengthen safety and security for staff members and students. We appreciate your patience, support, and assistance as we implement these protocols and work to provide yet another layer of security during the school day.
