In our most recent strategic plan and by focusing on academics, career readiness, community, finance and facilities, growth, and student-centered learning, the Milton-Union Schools continue to take steps toward consistent improvement, higher achievement, and student readiness. Even though school districts and buildings are often measured by student performance on state-mandated assessments, much more thought, work, and commitment is exerted on a daily basis to push children toward meeting their full potential.
Although student performance on state assessments is important, we believe our strategic plans require a broader approach to school improvement as we push toward college and career readiness for 100 percent of our students. Challenge, rigor, personal development, hope, integrity, partnership, and empowerment cannot always be measured through standardized assessments. These factors characterize successful graduates with long-term goals who have also identified the necessary supports, tools, knowledge, skills, dispositions, and college and career pathways to meet them.
We are proud of our traditions. We are excited about our next steps as a school district. We look forward to how our plans will help us navigate any challenges and future obstacles and, more importantly, allow us to impact meaningful and long-term student successes.
