At Milton-Union Middle School we are very proud to offer a variety of after-school academic clubs!
The four academic clubs at the Middle School will begin meeting after school next week.
Geography Club is after school on Mondays and is open to any middle school student. In Geography Club, students explore a variety of topics, including the people and animals of all parts of the world, and the geographical features of different areas of the planet.
Math Counts will be held on Tuesdays after school. In Math Counts, students work together to solve a variety of problems, with a focus on creative problem solving over just getting the right answer. Math Counts is for any 7th or 8th grade student. 6th graders can attend Math Counts with a teacher recommendation.
Power of the Pen will be on Wednesdays after school. In Power of the Pen, students hone their creative writing skills, with a focus on the creativity of their ideas and expressing themselves through writing. Power of the Pen is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th graders.
On Thursdays, the Science Olympiad team will meet. Science Olympiad is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grader who has an interest in science. Students in Science Olympiad will learn more about specific topics, and will design and build solutions for scientific problems.
Students who attend these clubs are welcome to ride the Elementary bus home if there is room, but we would prefer they are picked up after the club meeting.
In addition to these clubs that meet weekly, we will also have an art club this year that will meet twice a month, once after school and once on a Saturday. The first art club meeting will be held next Tuesday after school.
We hope to see our students take advantage of these clubs to pursue interests, make new friends, and challenge themselves!
