Students in Milton-Union High School’s American Sign Language 1 and 2 classes recently welcomed a special group of guests to their classrooms: their loved ones!
On Thursday, the ASL students took on the role of instructors, preparing and leading mini lessons to teach their guests basic sign language. The event was a resounding success, with nearly 20 family members, 5 Milton-Union School staff members, and even 23 eager second graders from Milton-Union Elementary School participating in the engaging learning experience.
The high school students relished the opportunity to share their knowledge and passion for ASL with their families and the younger students. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the chance to connect with their high school students in a unique way and learn a new skill. "This was a fantastic opportunity for our ASL students to showcase their hard work and understanding of the language," said Mrs., Szabo, ASL teacher at Milton-Union High School. "It was heartwarming to see the students confidently teaching their loved ones and the elementary students engaging so enthusiastically. We hope this experience sparked an interest in ASL for everyone involved."
