The Milton-Union Exempted Village School District continues to experience the bus driver shortage also affecting students, families, and employees locally, statewide, and nationally. As your family prepares for the first day of school tomorrow and beyond, consider the following for those children requiring district-provided transportation.

  • Although the Transportation Department has worked to keep up with parent and family requests, effective the morning of August 24 at 11:00am, no additional changes will be considered until September 7, 2021.  If a request was made prior to 11:00am on August 24, 2021, the Transportation Department will make every effort to accommodate.  Beginning September 7, the Transportation Department will again work through address and bus changes and parent/family requests.  You will be notified by phone or e-mail when those requests have been processed.
  • Although school personnel are usually able to respond more quickly, parents and families should expect at least five days for the Transportation Department to make an adjustment.
  • Plans are being adjusted to maintain student pick-up and drop-off for the first student day on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
  • Be patient and flexible with your students' bus assignments and approximate pick-up and drop-off times.  Pick-up and drop-off times could fluctuate substantially for the first several days of school.

Although the district plans to continue its recruitment efforts, bus driver shortages and illnesses are likely to effect schools over the course of the entire year.  There will be instances when alternative transportation is required, and families will need to make other arrangements.  Every effort will be made to communicate bus numbers and routes effected to parents and families as soon as possible.
