Homecoming Week is rapidly approaching at Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools! Once again, Milton-Union Middle School will be participating in the Spirit Week activities for the week of September 21-25.
School expectations and dress code will be expected to be followed for the following themes:
Monday- Team Day. Wear your favorite professional, college or club team apparel.
Tuesday - Beach Day. Wear your favorite school appropriate beach attire.
Wednesday- Twin Day. Match your fit with your bestie or with your teacher.
Thursday- Throwback Day. From 60s hippie to 80s neon, show your best.
Friday - Bulldog Spirit. Show your school spirit by wearing your Bulldog Gear.

Congratulations to Emma Rench (8th Grade student) for being recognized by Ms. Deb Ward (district custodian) for walking around the grounds and the concession stand at the football game on Friday night and picking up trash. Emma's act of kindness is an exemplarily example of Doing Her Best, Outstanding Citizenship and Good Choices with our DOGS PBIS program!
Emma was rewarded with a gift card to Scene 75 and this special Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools lapel pin that will be distributed to outstanding people in our school and throughout our community this school year.

Homework Club at MUMS is back! If you are looking for a quiet, structured environment to complete homework and assignments after school, Homework Club is the place for you.
Homework Club will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, starting Tuesday, September 15 from 3:00pm-4:00pm with Ms. Cochran or Ms. Gantner. If you have any questions, please see one of those two teachers or check out the informational flyer that we have included.
Transportation is not provided home after Homework Club, and you will need to provide you own if you attend.

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School teacher, Mr. Zach Roberts (Band Director) for being named the Teacher of the Month at MUMS for August/September. Mr. Roberts is always extremely positive, makes amazing connections with the students, helps our students find their passion for music, and puts in long hard hours to make Milton-Union's band a success.

Starting this fall, Milton-Union Middle School will be ending their take-home device program, storing all 1:1 devices in our Bulldog Break classes at the end of each school day. The goal of this change for grades 6-8 is to cut down on the amount of non-academic screen time that students are engaged in, to reduce the amount of device damage and loss that is occurring, and to limit off-task distractions like social media during non-school hours. In addition, devices will be charged and ready for each school day and students will not have to worry about forgetting their device and having to call parents or forgetting their charging cord at home.
Parents and students in Milton-Union Middle School will no longer be required to pick-up a 1:1 student device on Open House night or sign a device agreement form. Devices will be disseminated on the first day of school (August 26) during Bulldog Break.
Students will also be provided ample time in Bulldog Break and in class to get assignments completed and will be expected to use their provided time wisely.

National Signing Day is continuing at Milton-Union Middle School as we introduce new staff members for the 2026-2027 school year.
Please help us welcome Ms. Brooke Gray to Milton-Union Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year as an Intervention Specialist.
Ms. Gray will be joining us after graduating from Madison High School. She continued her studies at Wright State University and graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education in 2021. She currently is in the process of working through the Alternative Licensure program to add Special Education to her current teaching licensure.
Professionally, Ms. Gray has taught in the Fairborn City Schools since 2021. She started off as a Reading Specialist in the elementary and has transitioned to working as an elementary classroom position where she has served as an Inclusion teacher for IEP students the last four years. In addition, Ms. Gray most recently has served as a head volleyball coach at Mad River Local Schools, serves as a head coach at Western Buckeye Volleyball Club and previously served as a JV volleyball coach at Centerville and Fairborn. Ms. Gray will be the new head volleyball coach at Milton-Union High School for this upcoming season.
Upon being hired, Ms. Gray indicated that she is 'excited to join Milton-Union Middle School as a teacher and Milton-Union High School as a coach. She strives to better herself and others around her each day. Her number one goal is to make her students better people and learners!'

Pending BOE approval, please help us welcome Dr. Janelle DeVelvis to Milton-Union Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year as a Mathmatics teacher.
Dr. DeVelvis will be joining us after graduating from Versailles High School. She continued her studies at Wittenberg University and graduated with a degree in Middle Childhood Education (Math/Science) in 2008. She continued her education and received a Master's Degree in Mathematics from Walden University, her Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University and her Ed.D (Doctorate) in Instructional Technology from the American College of Education.
Professionally, Dr. DeVelvis was a middle school math teacher in the Cobb County School District in Georgia from 2008-2015. She then transitioned to a Technology Integreation Specialist and Lead Technology Integration Specialist position to train teachers on incorporating technology into the classroom from 2015-2024 in the same district. From 2004-2026, Dr. DeVelvis served as an Educational Consultant at Powerup EDU that served districts in Ohio and Georgia with curriculum and instruction. Dr. DeVelvis currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of West Georgia teaching online courses. Recently, Dr. DeVelvis and her family recently relocated back to Russia, Ohio.
During the interview process, Dr. DeVelvis impressed the interview committee with her ability to create and facilitate lessons, tasks and activities. In addition, she showed the ability to form meaningful connections with students while differentiating lessons for student's needs!
We are extremely excited to have Dr. DeVelvis join us at Milton-Union Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. When you see her, please help me welcome her to our outstanding school system!

Parents/guardians of 8th grade students: our 8th grade promotion ceremony is quickly approaching! Your student should have brought home an information paper regarding the event on May 27 at 9:00 am. Hope to see you all there as we celebrate the students' achievements!!
Any MUMS 8th Grade Girls that are interested in playing basketball next year in high school, you will have an informational meeting on Friday, May 15 during Bulldog Break in the Elementary School Gym!
