Attention MUMS Families:
Orientation will be held for all incoming 6th Grade students during Open House (Monday, August 18) from 6:15-7:00 pm in the High School Gymnasium. We will welcome you to MUMS and discuss general information, classroom supplies, technology, day-to-day operations, expectations in the middle school, etc. Hopefully this will help our incoming 6th grade students feel more comfortable with the first day of school. Please plan on attending with your son or daughter.

Also, 1:1 device pick-up for all MUMS students will also be held on the night of Open House. Devices can be found in the cafeteria.

During the 24-25 school year, MUMS and MUHS revamped our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports) system to reintroduce this school year. This system helps teach the students what our expectations for them are in the cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, on the bus, in class, at assemblies/activities and at arrival/dismissal. Our core values are the acronym D.O.G.S., which stands for Do Your Best, Outstanding Citizenship, Good Choices, and Safety First. National Signing Day continues at Milton-Union Middle School as we introduce new staff members for the 2025-2026 school year. Please help us welcome Miss. Lauren Fisher to Milton-Union Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year as an English Language Arts teacher. Miss. Fisher will be joining us after graduating from Miami East High School in 2020. During her time at Miami East, she was an active member of the volleyball team. She continued her studies at Bowling Green State University and graduated with a degree in Adolescent-Young Adult Integrated Language Arts in 2024. During her time at BGSU, she also became involved in CrossFit as a coach, became certified as an Olympic Weightlifting coach, and collaborated with athletic programs and coaches to create workouts for teams. From 2024-present, Miss Fisher has taught at Springfield Catholic School in Springfield, Ohio as a 7th grade, 9th grade Honors and 11th grade Language Arts teacher. During the interview process, Miss. Fisher impressed the interview committee with her ability to create and facilitate lessons, tasks and activities. In addition, she showed the ability to form meaningful connections with students while differentiating lessons and homework for student's needs! We are extremely excited to have Miss. Fisher join us at Milton-Union Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year. When you see her, please help me welcome her to our outstanding school system!

Pending Milton-Union Board of Education approval, please help me welcome Mr. Andrew Wirrig as our new MS/HS Choir Director at Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools. Mr. Wirrig is a graduate of Northmont High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wright State University in Music Education in 2021. Since 2022, Mr. Wirrig has severed as the Vocal Music Teacher at Tri-Village Local Schools where he prepared students in grades 5-12 for successful performances in the choir, oversaw a 70% growth of the MS and HS choir membership during the last two years, and directed and produced two successful elementary school musicals a year to foster a love for performing arts and showcasing students’ talents. In addition, Mr. Wirrig has served as a Varsity Assistant volleyball coach at Tri-Village, coaches club volleyball and previously served as a volleyball coach at Northmont City Schools. Mr. Wirrig, his wife, and their children reside in Vandalia, Ohio. When you meet Mr. Wirrig, please help me welcome him to Milton-Union Exempted Village Schools.

On May 28, we celebrated our 8th graders! Awards were handed out, words of wisdom were shared by Autumn Brazie (MUHS Class of 2025), and both tears and cheers were shared. Good luck to the Class of 2029 next year in high school and beyond! Enjoy your summer!!

Congratulations to the Milton-Union Middle School Staff Member of the Month for May, Mr. Zach Roberts. Mr. Roberts has done an amazing job with the 8th graders this year. Not only has he invested in them, but they were able to receive the highest score at the recent OMEA competition last week (#1). Mr. Roberts does all of this while investing in students, developing positive relationships with them, and representing Milton-Union Middle School with dignity and class. We are truly lucky to have Mr. Roberts in our Music Department and congratulate him again on being the Staff Member of the Month at MUMS for May!

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 6th grade student, Lily Spradlin, for being named the May Student of the Month at MUMS! Lily is a fantastic representation for Student of the Month. She does her work, listens well, is eager to learn and is great citizen of the school! Lily is always doing more than what is required of her and also assists with the little ones in the elementary school. Lily is a great role model! Congratulations to Lilly and her family on this tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 7th grade student, Karson Burnsworth, for being named the May Student of the Month at MUMS! Karson participates in class, is kind and considerate of others and always gives her best effort in class. Karson participates in the Quiz Bowl team and plays a critical role in the team's success. Karson always gives her best effort on assignments, and her enthusiasm is inspiring for her peers! Congratulations to Karson and her family on this tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 8th grade student, Sophie Dehus, for being named the May Student of the Month at MUMS! Sophie is dedicated to learning and shows a strong interest in her studies. She demonstrates a strong work ethic and approaches challenges with determination and curiosity. Sophie exhibits the qualities of a life-long learner and is a strong example of academic excellence! Congratulations to Sophie and her family on this tremendous accomplishment!

Sofia Salmeron Sam Foote Kate Rench Matteo (Karson) Burnsworth Kade Bartlett Josh Hitson Sophie Grove These students represented MUMS at a one-day Middle School Academic Quiz Bowl on Thursday, May 15th. They played five matches that included ELA, social studies, math, science, and geography questions as well as an Alphabet Round and a Lightning Round. Our students finished the day with two wins and two losses. The bowl was held at Dixie High School and included two teams from Beavercreek middle schools, two teams from Dixie Middle School, and MU. The event was sponsored by the Montgomery County ESC. Congratulations to Mrs. Galentine (Advisor) and these students on an outstanding performance today!

Our students looked spectacular all dressed up for their prom organized by the Miami County ESC. Students in the Milton-Union class of Ms. Embry were all smiles as they headed out today! A photographer captured everyone's prom memories, and a DJ played dance music all afternoon. Needless to say, a great time was had by all who attended!

Mrs. Eveyln Brady's High School and Middle School Art classes collaborated with Mrs. Lane's and Mrs. Sanders' kindergarten classes to create butterflies. This activity promoted collaboration between the buildings, mentorship and leadership development opportunities for our MS/HS students and allowed the Elementary students to work on their fine motor skills as well. Thank you to Mrs. Brady, Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Sanders for continuing to provide these amazing opportunities for all of our students at MUEVS!
