Our students looked spectacular all dressed up for their prom organized by the Miami County ESC. Students in the Milton-Union class of Ms. Embry were all smiles as they headed out today! A photographer captured everyone's prom memories, and a DJ played dance music all afternoon. Needless to say, a great time was had by all who attended!

Mrs. Eveyln Brady's High School and Middle School Art classes collaborated with Mrs. Lane's and Mrs. Sanders' kindergarten classes to create butterflies. This activity promoted collaboration between the buildings, mentorship and leadership development opportunities for our MS/HS students and allowed the Elementary students to work on their fine motor skills as well. Thank you to Mrs. Brady, Mrs. Lane and Mrs. Sanders for continuing to provide these amazing opportunities for all of our students at MUEVS!

Congratulations to Mrs. Kelly Strick for being named the Milton-Union Middle School Staff Member of the Month for April! Mrs. Strick is a valued member of Milton-Union Middle School! Her creative planning has helped many middle school students understand technology and become problem-solvers. Mrs. Strick is a motivator and a team player, who strives to make a positive difference for the students and her colleagues at Milton-Union Middle School! Finally, Mrs. Strick will be retiring from MUMS after 20+ years of service to the district. We appreciate her dedication and commitment to the district and wish her the very best in her future endeavors. Again, congratulations to Mrs. Strick on both of these honors!

MUMS Families: Just a friendly reminder that our State Standardized Assessments continue tomorrow at Milton-Union Middle School. Our 6th-8th grade students will be taking the Math Assessment (Part 1) on Wednesday, April 30 and the Math Assessment (Part II) on Thursday, May 1. Thank you, Mr. Firks

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 8th grade student, Bella Bierly, for being named the April Student of the Month at MUMS! Bella is an outstanding student who is always prepared for class. Bella adds tremendous value to classroom discussions with her participation and puts in her very best effort to achieve and grow each day as a student! Congratulations to Bella and her family on this tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 7th grade student, Jack Brinkman, for being named the April Student of the Month at MUMS! Jack gives his very best effort in everything that he does. He not only cares about his grades but also his classmates. Jack's kind and determined approach to everything is what makes him liked and respected by his peers and the staff at MUMS! Congratulations to Jack and his family on this tremendous accomplishment!

Congratulations to Milton-Union Middle School 6th grade student, Georgie Guess, for being named the April Student of the Month at MUMS! Georgie has a positive attitude and consistently participates in class, adding great value to discussions. Georgie is comfortable asking questions and is always willing to lend a hand to others. Georgie brings great energy to class and always has a positive attitude! Congratulations to Georgie and her family on this tremendous accomplishment!

National Signing Day continues at Milton-Union Middle School as we introduce new staff for the 2025-2026 school year. Please help us welcome Mrs. Angie Peltier to Milton-Union Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year as an Intervention Specialist. Mrs. Peltier will join us after graduating from Wright State University in May of 1995 with a Bachelor of Education in Grades 1-8 from Wright State University. She continued with her education and earned a Master of Arts as an Intervention Specialist in 2020 and a Master of Education in 2022 from Muskingum University. Previously, Mrs. Peltier has served as an Intervention Specialist with the Miami County ESC at the Lincoln Community Center, an Intervention Specialist with the Montgomery County Juvenile Court System and as a GED Instructor with the Upper Valley Career Instructor. When not teaching, Mrs. Peltier enjoys spending time with her husband, four daughters, her granddaughter, Beckham, and her three dogs, Crew, Aspen and Bentley. Mrs. Peltier is looking forward 'to the opportunity to make a significant impact on individual student learning and development by providing personalized support and tailored instruction, addressing individual learning styles, as well as academic and behavioral challenges. In addition, she is looking forward to developing meaningful relationships with students, understanding their individual strengths and needs, while creating a trusting learning environment. All student success begins with positive relationships. Furthermore, she is looking forward to collaborating and building strong relationships with her fellow teachers, administrators and staff members.'

Please help us welcome Mr. Elijah Walters to Milton-Union Middle School for the 2025-2026 school year as a Mathematics teacher. Mr. Walters will join us after graduating from Wright State University in May of 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in 4-9 Mathematics. He is also a graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School and is currently completing his student teaching at Weisenborn Junior High School in Huber Heights City Schools. When not teaching, Mr. Walters enjoys spending time outdoors. Some of his favorite activities include fishing, hiking, camping, pickleball and golf. He also enjoys spending time with his family as well. Mr. Walters is especially excited to join Milton-Union Middle School this upcoming school year and getting to know all of his students. He looks forward to making learning fun and engaging and cannot wait to be a member of such a great school community!

Today is Administrative Professionals Day and we would like to recognize Mrs. Becky Black at Milton-Union Middle School! Mrs. Black's positive attitude and hard work are an inspiration to all of us, and she is the unsung hero of our office. From scheduling meetings, answering phone calls, managing emails, and supporting our parents, students and staff, we appreciate the many hats that Mrs. Black wears at MUMS! We are truly lucky to have Mrs. Black at Milton-Union Middle School!

MUMS 6th Grade Families: Just a friendly reminder that JTI (Junior Teen Institute) registration and medical forms are due by May 2, 2025. JTI will be held May 9-11 at Ludlow Falls Church Camp and will include skis, speakers and various family group experiences talking through peer pressure, internet safety, bullying, saying no to drugs and vaping, being yourself and life as a 6th grader. In recognition of April being the Month of the Military Child, Milton-Union Middle School will be celebrating 'Ohio Military Family Spirit Week' next week from April 14th-17th. Students and staff are invited to participate in the following days to recognize and acknowledge our military-sponsored families: Monday, April 14: Red, White and Blue Day - Tuesday, April 15: Statewide Purple Up! Day - Wednesday, April 16: Support Your Favorite Military Branch Day - Thursday, April 17: Camouflage Day - Friday, April 18: No School (Easter Break).

Next week is Assistant Principal Week, and we are sending a huge THANK YOU to the best Assistant Principal in Southwest Ohio, Mr. Mark Lane. From helping students navigate tough days to supporting teachers and keeping everything running smoothly, Mr. Lane wears a lot of hats and does it with pride, patience and dedication. MUMS is grateful for the leadership of Mr. Lane and the care you bring to the building each day. Thank you for making Milton-Union Middle School a better place for our students to learn and grow.
